One of the EuroLeague’s top scorers is set for a new challenge in Italy. According to BasketNews sources, 29-year-old point guard Glynn Watson is finalizing an agreement with Umana Reyer Venezia after turning down a more lucrative offer from Turkiye.

He chose to pursue the opportunity to compete in the stronger European competition, while still aiming to establish himself as a EuroLeague player in the future.
Venezia reached the Italian League Finals in the 2025-26 season and recently secured a five-year EuroCup license, strengthening its long-term ambitions.
Watson is expected to replace RJ Cole, who is set to leave Venezia for EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, BasketNews sources confirmed.
The American guard is coming off an outstanding rookie EuroLeague campaign with ASVEL Villeurbanne, averaging 14.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 14.4 PIR per game.
Watson ranked 19th in the EuroLeague in scoring average.
His scoring production was among the league’s best newcomers, with only Jean Montero, Justin Robinson, and Talen Horton-Tucker averaging more points among EuroLeague rookies.
Watson produced several memorable performances throughout the season, including a career-high 28-point outing against Paris Basketball.
He also scored 25 points against Milan and added 23 against Barcelona.
Beyond the box score, Watson had a significant impact on ASVEL’s overall performance.
According to BasketNews Advanced Stats, Villeurbanne outscored opponents by 7.2 points per 100 possessions with Watson on the floor, the third-best on/off differential on the team.
Watson’s departure comes as ASVEL undergoes a major roster overhaul ahead of the 2026-27 season.
