1967.- Puerto Rico’s Carlos Ortiz retained his WBC and WBA world lightweight titles by technically knocking out Cuban-born Mexican Ultiminio “Sugar” Ramos in 4 rounds, in a highly anticipated rematch at the Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where Ortiz dominated from the very beginning.
1996.- Filipino Luisito Espinosa successfully defended his WBC featherweight crown by defeating fierce Mexican challenger Cesar “Cobrita” Soto via unanimous decision, dictating the distance in a bout that took place at the historic Araneta Coliseum in Manila, Philippines.
2011.- Thailand’s Pongsaklek Wonjongkam defended his WBC flyweight title by securing a wide unanimous decision victory with scores of 118-110, 117-111, and 116-112 over Japan’s Takuya Kogawa, controlling the pace with his southpaw stance in a fight held in Songkhla, Thailand.
