Jack Miller is still yet to sign a contract extension for the 2026 MotoGP season. Pramac are weighing up their options for their second seat.

The Aussie is out of contract at the end of 2025, while Pramac teammate Miguel Oliveira has a deal until 2026. However, both riders are at risk of dropping off the grid as Toprak Razgatlioglu will join the Yamaha satellite team next season.

Oliveira is not meeting his performance clause, which Yamaha could use to drop him a year early. Miller has been providing strong technical feedback behind the scenes on the YZR-M1 and the V4 project, which is set to be introduced in 2026, making him a strong candidate.

Pramac were set to decide their rider line-up over the summer break, but their decision has been delayed. Other candidates have emerged in recent weeks that the Tuscany-based outfit are considering.

Moto2 star Manu Gonzalez could be an option, with reports suggesting that he will not be moving to World Superbikes in 2026. Title rival Diogo Moreira has also been linked with the vacant seat as he eyes a promotion to MotoGP.

The 21-year-old is having a strong season in Moto2, becoming the first Brazilian to win in the intermediate class in 2025. With two victories, he is sitting third in the standings, and Yamaha star Fabio Quartararo has been quite complimentary about the young talent.

Speaking with Motorsport Espana, the Frenchman gave his thoughts on Moreira amid his links to Pramac:”I think he’s been doing very well. I think he’s having the best moment of his life, of his sporting career. He has the opportunity to move up to MotoGP and he’s winning races. So I’m very happy for him.

“I like him. Diogo is a very talented rider in everything: motocross, flat track, Moto2, speed. I’m very happy for him.

When asked about Moreira’s links to Pramac, he added: “Yes, something new,” before stating that ‘it would be good’ for the Brazilian to join Yamaha.

These comments will likely worry Miller, as his future for 2026 remains undetermined. The statements will cause even greater concern as Quartararo is likely to be consulted over Pramac’s decision, given that he is a MotoGP champion for Yamaha.

His verdict on Moreira could be significant in Pramac choosing him for a 2026 seat. It creates more uncertainty for Miller as he hopes to stay on the grid.

If Pramac do decide to explore other options, there is a chance that the Aussie could stay in the MotoGP paddock. It is possible that Miller could replace Alex Rins and partner with Quartararo at the factory Yamaha team.

Rins’ contract would be ‘expensive’ to terminate, which could be a blow for the Pramac rider. However, reports are suggesting that it is an ‘increasing possibility’ that Miller joins Yamaha for 2026.

Rins expects Yamaha to honour his contract, with his £1.8m-a-year salary making it difficult for the manufacturer to buy out. But his current form makes Miller a more favourable candidate.

If the Aussie is to leave MotoGP, Luigi Dall’Igna ‘wouldn’t think twice’ about signing Miller for Ducati’s WSBK project. The team have a seat available after Alvaro Bautista’s departure, and Dall’Igna is a huge admirer of Miller from their time together in MotoGP.
