NEW ORLEANS — Just a year removed from back-to-back Sun Belt football championships, Troy will look to return to its winning ways when it opens the 2025 season on Saturday, August 30, against Nicholls at 7:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+. 
 
Troy has won four-straight matchups with the Colonels dating back to 1998, though the squads have not squared off since a 26-0 Troy victory in its first FBS season in 2001. 
 
Troy’s non-conference slate also features trips to Clemson (Sept. 6) and Buffalo (Sept. 20), bookending a highly-anticipated home date with Memphis (Sept. 13). Alongside annual clashes with their West Division rivals, the Trojans will visit Old Dominion (Nov. 13) and host Georgia State (Nov. 22) from the Sun Belt East Division. 
 
The Trojans were picked sixth in the Sun Belt West Division in last month’s 2025 Sun Belt Conference Football Preseason Coaches Poll. 
 
Second-year head coach Gerad Parker will lead a club that returns four All-Sun Belt honorees from 2024 and had four players named to the 2025 Preseason All-Sun Belt ledgers. 
 
Troy is coming off a 4-8 season in 2024. Following its last 4-8 finish—in 2015 under then-head coach Neal Brown—the Trojans rattled off the best three-year stretch in the program’s FBS history, posting three-straight seasons with 10-or-more wins and three-straight bowl titles.
