Irish actress, writer and producer Slaine Kelly, who appeared in The Tudors, has died aged 43.
Kelly, whose screen credits included The Tudors and Raw, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family, according to a death notice.
She played Jane Howard in the historical drama The Tudors and also appeared in films including Comedown, Sket, Rise of the Footsoldier Part II and S.P.L.I.T.
Kelly was also familiar to many Irish viewers for appearing alongside Charlie Murphy in a Barry’s Tea television advert.
She co-wrote, produced and appeared in the independent Irish feature The O’Briens, alongside Emmett Hughes.
The family comedy, directed by Richard Waters and filmed in Galway, premiered at the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2013, where it received the Outstanding Achievement in Filmmaking award.
Outside her screen work, Kelly helped to found St Anne’s City Farm in Dublin.
Film Network Ireland was among those paying tribute, describing Kelly as “a gifted and dedicated actress, writer and producer” who made a lasting impact on Irish film and television.
Actor and comedian Paddy C Courtney said Kelly’s “spirit of giddy curiosity and divilment” would live on in those who knew her.
Kelly is survived by her parents Marion and Joe and her son Knox.
