‘Hopefully the next leader of her nation’: Controverisal activist Tommy Robinson throws support behind Pauline Hanson

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has sat down with controversial UK activist Tommy Robinson during a trip to London.

The appearance comes just weeks after Ms Hanson’s defence of Karl Stefanovic over his interview with the convicted criminal.

Ms Hanson travelled to Britain to attend the CPAC Great Britain conference before joining Robinson for an interview on his podcast.

Robinson praised Ms Hanson on Thursday following their meeting, describing her as one of the “bravest” women in the world.

“Had a fascinating time chatting to one of the bravest (ladies) on the planet,” Robinson wrote on social media.

“Fearless, relentless, consistent, fighting for the Australian people and hopefully the next leader of her nation. Podcast coming soon.”

The meeting comes after Robinson became the centre of a media storm in Australia for his interview with Karl Stefanovic.

Mr Stefanovic’s interview with Robinson led to his dismissal from Channel Nine after executives questioned the decision to feature the controversial figure.

The interview was removed from Mr Stefanovic’s social media accounts, although Nine stressed it had no involvement in the editorial decisions made on his personal podcast.

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has long been a prominent but divisive figure in Britain’s political scene.

He founded the English Defence League in 2009 and has long been associated with anti-immigration demonstrations and hardline positions on Islam.

He has been convicted of offences including contempt of court and other criminal matters in the UK.

His supporters describe him as a free speech campaigner, while his opponents accuse him of promoting extremist views.

Ms Hanson strongly defended Mr Stefanovic during his dismissal from Nine over his interview with Robinson.

“They have no understanding that they’ve gone so far to the left… They’re making a big mistake,” Ms Hanson told Sky News at the time.

Ms Hanson also shared Mr Stefanovic’s interview with Robinson on her own social media accounts after it was removed from Stefanovic’s accounts.
