According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Clarkson has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million deal to return to the New York Knicks.

Clarkson spent the 2025-26 season with New York after signing a one-year, $3.63 million veteran minimum deal.

The 34-year-old Filipino-American guard has built his NBA career as a proven bench scorer and won the 2021 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award during his time with the Utah Jazz.

Over his NBA career, Clarkson has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Jazz, and Knicks.

Last season, Clarkson averaged 8.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game for New York, helping the Knicks win their first NBA title since 1973.

Knicks looking for another center for their final roster spot

After re-signing Jordan Clarkson, the New York Knicks have one remaining roster spot and are reportedly looking to add another center.

The Knicks have already added Andre Drummond on a one-year, $3.9 million veteran minimum contract after Mitchell Robinson left for the Boston Celtics.

However, New York is still searching for one more center to strengthen its frontcourt.

That is where Richards becomes a name to watch.

Richards spent the 2025-26 season with the Phoenix Suns and Chicago Bulls, averaging 5.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 0.3 assists while shooting 51.2% from the field.

The 28-year-old, 6-foot-11 center would give the Knicks another traditional big man behind Drummond.

Richards entered the NBA as the No. 42 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft after playing at Kentucky.

He began his career with the Charlotte Hornets before later playing for the Suns and Bulls.
