More than 13,000 Nissan SUVs have been recalled across Australia over fears the vehicles could lose power while driving.
A nationwide recall has been issued for 13,795 Nissan T33 X-Trail e-POWER vehicles manufactured between 2022 and 2026.
According to the recall notice, a software fault in the lithium-ion battery controller could cause the vehicle to enter a fail-safe mode while driving or during regenerative braking, resulting in a loss of motive power and preventing the battery from charging.

Nissan warned the fault could increase the risk of a crash, potentially causing serious injury or death.

Nissan Australia said it will contact affected owners, who are being urged to book their vehicle into an authorised dealership for a free software update.
Owners can also check whether their vehicle is affected by entering its Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on Nissan Australia’s website or by contacting their preferred authorised Nissan dealer.
