We’re in our lover era, and by that we mean devouring every devastating and delightful new romance that comes our way. The next on our list is Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa led book-to-film adaptation, The Map That Leads To You.

It’s the latest in a wave of new era romance films and shows reinvigorating the genre, think: Materialists, Nobody Wants This,The Summer I Turned Pretty etc.

So, what do you need to know about the new film? Scroll on.

What Is The Map That Leads To You About?

The Map That Leads To You is based on the book of the same name from author J.P. Monninger and follows a young woman, Heather, as she embarks on the trip of a lifetime around Europe with her best friends.

That’s when she meets Jack, sparking “an unexpected romance that leads to deep emotional discovery. As secrets and life choices test their bond, her path changes forever.”

As with any great rom coms, the film’s success relies heavily on the lead’s chemistry, something KJ and Madelyn have in spades. It’s something the Riverdale star put to down to committing to the feelings of his character.

“We got to, in a way, fall in love with our characters, with each other,” he told Extra.

But, that strong connection was built and earned, not one of instantaneity.

“There definitely was not an instant connection, I mean that in all seriousness, because when i first met her I thought she was…” KJ began to which Madelyn immediately finished his sentence: “…a bitch. And I take great pride in that.”

KJ then added: “But then we got to know each other and I think the chemistry you see in the movie is the chemistry we have in real life.”
