The Bermuda men’s national basketball team were edged 59-56 by host nation Guyana in a closely contested FIBA AmeriCup Caribbean Pre-Qualifiers match.
Bermuda made a positive start, taking a 12-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Guyana responded by outscoring Bermuda 21-16 in the second period to hold a 31-28 advantage at halftime.
Bermuda fought back in the third quarter, outscoring Guyana 16-13 to level the score heading into the final period.
The hosts held a narrow edge in the fourth quarter, outscoring Bermuda 14-12 to secure the three-point victory.
Bermuda’s Malachi Scott recorded a double-double, leading all scorers with 16 points and collecting 12 rebounds.
Team-mate Leigh-Jaelen Williams contributed six assists and two steals.
