SINGAPORE IBM officially introduced Industry 4.0 Studio Tour which was held at i4 Studio, Singapore, on Wednesday, August 20. The event presents an immersive experience that brings participants to explore the most advanced technology in the transformation of the manufacturing industry.
Through this tour, IBM affirms its commitment to inspiration, innovation, information, and intelligence, by presenting various concrete demonstrations that combine artificial intelligence, hybrid cloud, and quantum computing.
In this interactive journey, participants will be invited to experience how smart technology is able to change the way the industry works. One of the things that is displayed is the use of AI-based smart glasses and 3D spatial technology that allows equipment inspections to be carried out quickly, accurately, and connected in real-time to the central platform. This technology not only provides full visibility of cross-site operations, but also allows augmented reality-based long-distance assistance so that experts can provide direct guidance in the field.
In addition, IBM also shows how artificial intelligence can support operations and maintenance in the energy sector as well as the semiconductor industry. At the first demonstration, an integrated Maximo Application Suite system with a watsonx was used to monitor solar farm performance.
When a power decline or anomaly occurs, the system automatically triggers drone inspections whose results are analyzed to provide maintenance recommendations. Meanwhile, other demos show inspection of DIMMs memory with multi-camera and cobot systems, using an AI model trained to detect more than 15 types of production defects, thereby ensuring quality and manufacturing efficiency.
The digital experience was also presented through a generative AI technology mounted on autonomous robots at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve. This robot is able to serve visitors by providing information, directional instructions, and making personal travel plans through natural conversations.
IBM also features smart dog robots equipped with multimodal AIs. In an emergency scenario, these robots can navigate dangerous environments, detect risks, and find trapped workers. On the other hand, the robot is also capable of self-driving facilities, collecting asset condition data with thermal sensors and AI vision, then connecting them directly to Maximo to accelerate maintenance response.
It doesn’t stop there, tour participants will also be introduced to AI-based training and mixed reality experiences. One of them is flight technician training, where AI Orchestrate guides technicians through more accurate and efficient troubleshooting processes.
There is also a simulation of forensic investigator training with mixed reality technology, using the Oculus Quest 3 headset which allows direct interaction with virtual evidence and standard procedure guidelines generated instantly by AI.
In addition to focusing on industrial transformation, IBM also presents a think Forum showcase that shows cross-sectoral innovation. The hybrid cloud technology is displayed through WebMethods and HashiCorp to support cross-platform data integration, while the Power 11 server is introduced as an AI-ready infrastructure with capabilities without downtime.
IBM also affirms its readiness to face the era of quantum computing by introducing Guardium Quantum Safe as a security solution, as well as explaining the quantum computing roadmap aimed at assisting future complex research.
This tour is even more interesting with digital activation, including Watsonx Orchestrate which makes it easier to build AI agents in just a matter of minutes, solutions to modern application observability, to interactive data experiences through watsonx.data.
In the realm of sport, IBM shows its collaboration with Sevilla FC through Scout Advisor to accelerate the player’s talent search process, as well as bring the experience of Formula One with Scuderia Ferrari through a racing simulator. Another unique activation is a tennis table with direct comments from AI, where game data is processed in real-time and presented in the form of a short narrative.
In closing, IBM will invite participants to enter the Client Zero Bar, an interactive space where they can build their own AI agents, as well as discuss, innovate and expand the network. Through this Industry 4.0 Studio Tour, IBM shows how smart technology can accelerate digital transformation, deliver safer, more efficient operations, and be ready to face industrial challenges in the future.
