Amerina Bike Route enters operational phase

The Amerina Bike Route, a cycling tourism project led by the Municipality of Todi together with Avigliano Umbro, Montecastrilli, Amelia and Penna in Teverina, has moved from planning to its final phase. The new cycle route—inspired by the historic Via Amerina—is expected to open by autumn.

Main loop: a 131.7 km ring starting from Piazza del Popolo in Todi and returning to Penna in Teverina, favouring secondary and scenic roads.Local “petals”: five auxiliary loop itineraries (40–60 km each), one per municipality, to make the route a multi-day destination.Timeline: final validation of the route and signage is planned for August with Sport e Salute, FIAB and the Umbria Region; the dedicated website and promotion activities will begin in September.Facilities and signage: detailed mapping with over 500 georeferenced points of interest and a five-type signage system to support usability and connections.Everyday mobility: the project also foresees urban cycling routes for school and work commutes, encouraging bike use in daily life.

Following technical checks and the start of communications, the Amerina Bike Route aims to create a connected, slow-tourism infrastructure that highlights the historical, natural and gastronomic assets of the area.
