Situated in North Parramatta, The King’s School Rowing Club holds tradition bequeathed by those who once wore the sky blue and white, etched onto the bows of the boats. King’s is full of talented young rowers and alumni that have represented the school in their schooling careers and would later go on to represent Australia on the international stage.
Notable successes within the school have also reached the banks of Great Britain, with wins in the 2001 Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup and the 2006 Fawley Challenge Cup, making King’s the only school within the AAGPS to ever win a Henley event. Recent achievements include the King’s 2024 1st Eight winning the Barrington Cup for the first time since 2006, and a silver medal in the U19 Men’s Eight at the National Championships in 2025. From that crew, Luke Fleet and Lachie Rogers both having been selected for the New South Wales Pathways Men’s 1st Eight.
With this level of calibre coming from the boatshed, many old boys and alumni continue rowing beyond the school gates. One of the most notable is William Rogers (Class of 2024), who won the U19 Men’s Single Scull at the National Championships in his final year; he was then selected for the U19 Australian Rowing Team in 2024 and U23 Australian Rowing Team in 2025. Other notable old boys who travelled outside of Australia and continued their rowing careers include Rory Menzies (Class of 2022) (University of California, Berkeley), Lachlan Roach (Class of 2020) (Harvard University) and Alex McClean (Class of 2020) (Yale University). Robert Black (Class of 2013) who has represented Australia multiple times, including wins in the 2016 Under 23 World Rowing Championships in the Men’s Quad Scull and 2017 Under 23 World Rowing Championships in the Men’s Coxeless Four.
