Spice Girl Melanie C has reportedly married her Australian partner Chris Dingwall in a low-key celebration attended by all but one of her bandmates.
After multiple media reports in recent days that Melanie, 52, would wed for the first time this weekend, the Daily Mail now reports that the pop star has wed in a private ceremony in the English countryside.
The outlet reported that her 17-year-old daughter Scarlett was her bridesmaid, and that Melanie wore a full-length white, backless gown designed by fellow Spice Girl Victoria Beckham while tying the knot with Dingwall at Country House Cumbria in the Lake District on Saturday, local time.
While she designed the wedding dress, Beckham was the only Spice Girl not in attendance: She’s in the US with husband David Beckham for the World Cup. Spice Girls Geri Horner, Melanie B and Emma Bunton were all at the wedding.
The milestone makes Melanie C the last Spice Girl to get married, after a flurry of Spice weddings in recent years: Scary Spice Melanie B wed her third husband, hairdresser Rory McPhee, last year after previous marriages to back-up dancer Jimmy Gulzar in the 1990s and entrepenuer Stephen Belafonte for a decade from 2007.
Emma Bunton married her partner of almost 20 years, singer Jade Jones, in 2021, while Geri Halliwell wed former F1 racing exec Christian Horner in 2015. Beckham of course had the most famous Spice marriage, wedding football great David Beckham in 1999.
Melanie C has always been the most private member of the group when it comes to her personal relationships – daughter Scarlett was the product of a longtime relationship with ex-partner Thomas Starr. The pair split in 2012 after a decade together.
After that, Melanie dated her manager, Joe Marshall, for seven years before they split in 2022.
Melanie C and Dingwall, who is in his 40s and has worked as a filmmaker and model, went public with their relationship at the Glastonbury Festival in mid-2024.
They then started to make regular appearances on each other’s social media accounts and, by 2025, the usually guarded star was happy to gush about her new love in interviews.
“I don’t want to sit here all smug, but all I will say is it took me a bloody long time to get here. You know, life is always throwing curve balls your way, isn’t it? But this is a great time for me. I’m in a great relationship,” she told news.com.au last year.
The relationship comes amid a career renaissance for Melanie C, whose recently released ninth solo album Sweat marked her biggest chart success in decades: Here in Australia, it debuted at number five, making it the biggest album showing of her solo career to date.
That success means there’s not much time for a honeymoon: In early September, Melanie C will embark on a world tour, which will finish in Australia in November with headlining concert dates across the country.
Upon the release of the new album, Dingwall posted on social media that he was “insanely proud of this woman. The hardest working, most talented human I know … No one deserves the success I’m sure is coming your way more than you do.”
“Thank you my darling. I love you,” Melanie C responded.
