Tarik Skubal looks likely to remain with Tigers — but only in the short term

Tarik Skubal seems much more likely to stay now that the Tigers have won 10 of 13 games and moved into the tight (but sad) AL wild-card race. 

“They could win the division,” one rival GM said. 

Either way, the Tigers have almost no chance to keep him long-term, and that’s even if owners get their way and a salary cap becomes reality. 

That won’t happen — not after offering him $75 million over four years a week before Garrett Crochet more than doubled that, then taking him to arbitration with the biggest gap ever ($13M).
