According to NBA reporter Evan Sidery, Memphis Grizzlies guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is expected to be approached about a potential buyout, with the team currently well above the roster limit.
KCP could follow LeBron to his next team
Should Caldwell-Pope become a free agent, he could reunite with his former Lakers teammate LeBron James.
Sidery reported that Caldwell-Pope, who is represented by Klutch Sports, could potentially follow James to whichever team the four-time NBA champion joins this offseason.
The 33-year-old two-way guard saw his 2025-26 season end prematurely after undergoing surgery in February to correct a misalignment in his right pinky finger.
Caldwell-Pope appeared in 51 games for Memphis last season, averaging 8.4 points, 2.7 assists, and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 41% from the field and 31.6% from three-point range.
He will enter his 14th NBA season after being selected eighth overall by the Detroit Pistons in the 2013 NBA Draft.
Caldwell-Pope won his first NBA championship alongside James with the Lakers in 2020 before helping the Nuggets capture their first title in franchise history in 2023.

James has yet to announce his highly anticipated decision as he potentially enters the final stage of his NBA career.
According to various reports, three Eastern Conference teams currently lead the race for the 41-year-old superstar.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been mentioned as the most likely destination. A move to Cleveland would mark James’ second return to the franchise that selected him first overall in 2003 and that he led to its first NBA championship in 2016.
The Miami Heat have also been linked with a potential reunion with James, who won two championships during his four-year stint with the organization.
The Philadelphia 76ers have emerged as another possible destination, with their chances reportedly improving after they acquired Jaylen Brown in a blockbuster trade involving Paul George.
Western Conference teams such as the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves have also been mentioned among James’ leading potential landing spots.
Minnesota currently appears to be the least likely destination among the teams linked with James. Golden State, meanwhile, has been described as a dark-horse frontrunner, particularly because of James’ close relationships with Draymond Green and Stephen Curry.
