Broncos winger Josiah Karapani has avoided a conviction for a drink-driving offence after facing court on Tuesday.

Karapani was stood down by the Broncos for one game for the incident, which occurred late last month.
It’s the second time this season he has had a run in with police. Back in March, Karapani was hit with a fine and a month-long ban from a precinct in Fortitude Valley for being a ‘Public Nuisance’.
The Broncos released a statement on Tuesday, which revealed Karapani received a three-month licence disqualification and a fine for the drink-driving incident.
“Brisbane Broncos player Josiah Karapani appeared in Holland Park Magistrates Court today in relation to a charge of ‘Provisional licence holder driving over the zero limit but not over general limit (0.05)’,” the club-issued statement read.
“This charge resulted from a roadside vehicle stop on Sunday 28 June where Karapani subsequently returned a breath analysis reading of 0.037.
“As a provisional licence holder (P Plater), he is subject to a zero-blood alcohol concentration.
Karapani pleaded guilty and received the minimum three-month licence disqualification and a $350 fine. No conviction was recorded.
“The Brisbane Broncos will continue to work closely with the NRL Integrity Unit before determining what additional Club-imposed sanctions might be imposed.”

The PNG Chiefs recruitment raid isn’t limited to just star players.
The new franchise, according to Code Sports, are reportedly set to sign Anthony Seibold to become a senior assistant to head coach Willie Peters.
The expansion club will reportedly welcome Seibold and his wife Hollie to their Port Moresby base for a tour in the coming days, hopeful of securing his services.
While Seibold will then have to make a decision regarding his future, the former Sea Eagles boss is reportedly likely to sign on.
The former Broncos head coach was sacked by Manly after dismal start to their 2026 campaign, with Kieran Foran being hired as an interim and then full-time head coach after a positive run.

The Chiefs have already made headlines this week after Joey Manu was spotted touring their facilities, with the PNG club hopeful of adding the former Rooster to their ranks.
Zac Lomax has also been linked with the Chiefs, while Jarome Luai, Connor Watson, Alex Johnston and Matty Lees have already signed on.
Seibold already has a relationship with Peters, with the pair working together at the Rabbitohs in 2018.
Since his departure from the Sea Eagles, Seibold has spent time at a consultant to AFL club Collingwood’s coaching staff.
BULLDOGS VETERAN’S CAREER CALL
Bulldogs outside back Marcelo Montoya has made the decision to retire from the sport effective immediately.
Montoya had planned to retire at season’s end, but as he said via a club-issued statement, the 30-year-old’s body isn’t able to “keep up with the rigours of first grade footy anymore”.
“I want to thank the Bulldogs for giving me my NRL debut back in 2017 and for bringing me back home to allow me to finish my career where it started,” Montoya said.
“I’m excited to begin my next chapter – and will be cheering the boys on as they prepare for a big back end of the season.”
Montoya will remain at the club in a player wellbeing role.
He’ll also assist the club’s pathways coaches.
Montoya played in 162 NRL games, 80 for the Bulldogs and 82 for the Warriors, scoring a total of 58 tries.
