JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – The Jonesboro City Council approved multiple resolutions purchasing right-of-ways on several streets to improve and build pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure.
The city authorized the offer to purchase and accept additional right-of-way on and around Aggie Road east of Arkansas State University’s campus, allowing it to build on the street.
City Council bought right-of-way on the 3500 block of Aggie Road, the 3700 block of Blueridge Circle, and the 100 block of Mark Street.
“Well, it’s like a piece of the puzzle, and so that’s what we’ve been putting together for years,” Mayor Harold Copenhaver said. “These are just a few of the pieces that are left in the pie. So, once that puzzle is all put together and completed, now we can move forward, get the property ready to go. We’ve already got the design drawn, obviously, for Aggie Road. Now we can meet the financial commitment to move forward with the funding.”
