Cricket Australia has unveiled a star-studded CA XI squad for a three-day clash with Bangladesh’s men’s Test team — with some familiar faces earning a call-up.
Sam Konstas, who hasn’t featured in Test cricket since Australia’s tour of the West Indies last year, has been included alongside Kurtis Patterson and Josh Phillipe as the trio with international experience.
Emerging stars Campbell Kellaway, Hanno Jacobs, Jerrssis Wadia, Campbell Thompson and Teague Wyllie have also been included in the 14-man squad.

The squad, which features five South Australian-based players, will travel to Darwin in next month ahead of their red ball fixture starting on August 6.
The Aussie Test opening slots have been of major focus in selection debates following the retirement of veteran Usman Khawaja.
Jake Weatherald was named in the squad to face Bangladesh in their two-Test series which begins in Darwin, alongside Travis Head at the top of the order.
Both Konstas and Kellaway will be hopeful of boosting their credentials against the new ball, while WA’s Corey Rocchiccioli is also a Test hopeful after impressing in Shield cricket.

Nathan Lyon was named as Australia’s only specialist spinner for the Bangladesh Tests, having been cleared to return following a lengthy recovery from hamstring surgery suffered during the third Ashes Test last year.
Lyon’s inclusion saw both Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann miss out, with Murphy in particular seen as the veteran off-spinner’s successor.
Rocchiccioli will be hopeful of forcing himself into the selection frame with a strong display for the CA XI after taking 38 Shield wickets last season, the most of any spinner.
Elsewhere, Patterson, who has played two Tests for Australia, ended his 2025/26 campaign strongly, scoring 104*, 125* and 52* in his last three List A innings.

He also tallied an impressive 173* against South Australia in February.
Tim Nielsen has been appointed head coach of the CA XI while Steven Crook will act as an assistant coach.
Tim Paine and Anthony Clark, meanwhile, will be the coaches taking a group of emerging players to India for the MRF Academy tour.
Jason Sangha, Joel Davies, Lloyd Pope and Matt Gilkes have all been named in the 12-man development squad.
“The CA XI squad for the match against Bangladesh and the MRF Academy Program are significant part of our pathway programs,” CA head of national development Sonya Thompson said.
“The match against Bangladesh will give players the opportunity to challenge themselves in a representative environment, while the MRF Academy Program continues a valued partnership that provides exposure to different conditions, coaching expertise and learning experiences.
“Tim Nielsen’s leadership of the CA XI in Darwin and highly regarded coaches Anthony Clark and Tim Paine’s involvement with the MRF program in India will provide valuable development opportunities for players and coaches across the national pathway.
“Together, these programs allow us to expose a broader pool of players to representative and overseas experiences as we continue to assess and develop talent across Australian cricket.”
