Match winner Shannon Neale said Geelong worked overtime to close down Melbourne’s corridor game in their 20-point win at the MCG.
Neale was the beneficiary of the Cats’ pressure through the midfield, booting five goals for the night. Ollie Henry kicked four, Oliver Wiltshire three and Jay Polkinghorne two.

“They’ve got a lot of run in their team, so we tried to mitigate that, and we got on top of them, which is great,” Neale told Fox Footy after the game.
“We sort of looked at their corridor game. They sort of wanted to get it back through the corridor. Obviously, the ’G is a big ground, so they wanted to come back through, so we just tried to sort of defend that and not let them back through, and try and defend them and keep them out wide.”
