A man has died and a police officer is in a stable condition after a shooting on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.
Police officers were called to an address on Horizon Court in Yengarie, west of Maryborough, at 5:44pm on Friday following reports of a domestic violence matter.
Police allege a 45-year-old man approached officers on their arrival and shot at them, hitting a first-year constable in the leg.
A Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) was declared shortly after, and specialised police attended the address at 9:21pm where they found the man deceased on the property.
The officer was transported to hospital for treatment and remains in a stable condition.
An Ethical Standards Command investigation is underway, and police are expected to speak on the incident later on Saturday morning.
