Recent legislative and regulatory changes are having a significant impact across Australia’s shooting industry. Many businesses are reporting declining sales, reduced customer activity, stranded stock and growing uncertainty about future trading conditions.

This week, SIFA will distribute a national business impact survey to licensed firearms dealers and other affected businesses.

The survey is designed to measure the financial and operational impact of recent government decisions. It will seek information about changes in sales, turnover, staffing, stock holdings, customer demand and business confidence.

It is important that every business completes the survey and provides as much accurate information as possible, as the strength of the evidence we can present to government will depend on the level of industry participation.

The information collected will support SIFA’s ongoing advocacy with federal, state and territory governments. It will also help establish the evidence required to pursue fair compensation for businesses that have suffered financial losses, stranded inventory or other costs as a direct result of legislative and regulatory action.

For data security purposes, an individual, single-use link will be sent to all businesses around Australia. SIFA can guarantee that all responses will be treated confidentially, with any published results reported in an aggregated form ONLY.
