The Univ. of North Carolina has placed football GM Michael Lombardi “on paid administrative leave, effective immediately,” according to Greg Barnes of INSIDE CAROLINA. No reason was given in the school’s statement, though On3 is reporting the move “stems from a human resources complaint.” Sources confirmed that the complaint “pertains to a former staff member.” Lombardi is reportedly the highest-paid GM in college football; he is in the second year of a three-year deal worth $1.5M annually. Lombardi was Bill Belichick’s “first hire after accepting the UNC football coaching position in December 2024” (INSIDE CAROLINA, 7/27).
