A man is fighting for life and a woman has been seriously injured after a driver in his 80s ploughed into the two pedestrians at a busy intersection in Sydney’s south-west.
Shocking footage shows the moment a car collided with the man and woman on The Boulevarde in Lakemba, just before 1pm on Tuesday.
The video also shows others scrambling off the road and narrowly escaping being struck before the white van veers into two cars waiting at the traffic lights.
The man, believed to be in his 60s, was treated for head injuries and taken to St George Hospital at Kogarah, where he remains in a critical condition. The woman, in her 30s, was taken to Liverpool Hospital and is now in a serious but stable condition.
One woman told Nine News her husband had been waiting in his car at the traffic lights when he saw the crash. She said he described the scene as “traumatising”.
