LeBron James to set NBA record no one has ever reached next season with 76ers

LeBron James is 27 victories away from passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most regular-season wins in NBA history. 

LeBron James could add another historic achievement to his resume during his first season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

NBA reporter Evan Sidery noted that James enters the 2026-27 campaign only 27 victories away from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most regular-season wins by a player in NBA history.

Abdul-Jabbar currently holds the record with 1,074 career regular-season victories, while James has accumulated 1,048 wins.

A further 26 victories would allow James to tie the six-time NBA champion, while his 27th win of the season would move him into sole possession of first place.

LeBron continues pursuit of NBA history

James is already the NBA’s all-time leading scorer and holds several longevity records after spending more than two decades in the league.

He will now have an opportunity to surpass Abdul-Jabbar in another major statistical category while beginning the final chapter of his career in Philadelphia.

The 41-year-old joined the 76ers after ending his eight-season tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, signing a two-year deal ahead of his record-extending 24th NBA campaign.

James will play alongside Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and Jaylen Brown as Philadelphia looks to compete near the top of the Eastern Conference.
