IT’S hard not to look at Super2 leaderboards in the past 18 months without pondering if something is amiss with regards to parity.
Fords dominated last season, and in 2026 have picked up where they left off.
Take yesterday, for example.
All 20 drivers in the field at Wanneroo Raceway set their fastest Friday time during Practice 2.
The result? All eight Fords in the top nine – with Brad Jones Racing prodigy Brad Vaughan the sole Holden representative towards the pointy end – while each of the bottom 11 drivers were aboard Commodores.
Seems glaring enough.

Even some people within the industry have indicated you have to be in a Gen2 Mustang to stand a chance.
But digging a tiny bit deeper, that assertion doesn’t really appear to pass the pub test.
For these are the exact same specification cars which raced in the main game prior to Gen3, noting that Holdens won both the championship and Bathurst 1000 in 2021 and ’22.
They also happen to be exact same specification cars which raced in Super2 in 2023 and ’24, where Commodores led the way (seven of the top eight in the ’23 points, and four of the top five in ’24).
“There’s been no changes to those cars from when they were racing in the main series in 2022,” Supercars chief motorsport officer Tim Edwards told V8 Sleuth.
“The cars are as raced.”
So, can he put his finger on why there’s been a swing towards the Blue Oval? “No. And we’ve looked at it at length.”
Edwards though reiterated: “Two years ago a Commodore won. There’s been no changes.”
One possible basis for an explanation could be that Mustang-shod Tickford has upped its focus on Super2 in recent seasons, while Holden has lost frontrunning forces Triple Eight and Walkinshaw from its ranks.
Saturday Super2 action in Perth will comprise a qualifying session followed by a Top Five Shootout, setting the grid for a 40-minute race starting 2:55pm local/4:55pm AEST.
