TO call it a big weekend for the Blanchard Racing Team might be an understatement.

BRT has been one of the happy stories of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship, climbing off the canvas to chalk up a trio of podiums.

From finishing effectively last in the teams’ championship in its first two seasons as a two-car outfit, BRT shocked everyone by locking out the front row of the grid for the opening race of 2026.

It grabbed a double podium that night, and has since added another two front-row starts plus one more podium.

But the fairytale narrative has faded in recent rounds, to the point where it has just one top 10 result from the past nine races and now has no representation in the provisional finals bracket.

There was some positivity out of Townsville, where the #7 and #3 Mustangs rediscovered some pace, only to be brought unstuck by a string of costly first-lap incidents.

That’s sometimes how it goes. Momentum can be a thingy of beauty or cruelty.

BRT has suddenly found itself in a mid-season downward spiral that it needs to snap out of, and in a hurry.

James Golding is now on the outside looking in with four ‘regular season’ rounds remaining, having ceded his place in the championship’s top 10 to Jack Le Brocq and allowed the likes of Jayden Ojeda and Thomas Randle to stay alive.

Eleven points, i.e. the deficit to Le Brocq, of course is next to nothing when there’s still up to 1230 points in play before the Gold Coast.

But it’s about stemming the bleeding and turning the tide in time for the enduros, especially Bathurst where Golding and his co-driver Richie Stanaway are renowned specialists.

Now comes the kicker.

Wanneroo was by far BRT’s best track during its darker days.

Todd Hazelwood’s best two results in 2023 both came in Perth. It was also the site of James Courtney’s best result in both 2024 and ’25, on the latter occasion breaking through for the team’s maiden podium.

The bar is a bit higher this time around for what would quantify a season-best result for BRT, but if it were to occur, it certainly would be at a timely moment.
