A CHAOTIC Perth Super440 has continued, headlined by a high-profile clash between Kai Allen and Brodie Kostecki.
The Ford duo had duelled for some time before coming to blows at the start of Lap 39 while squabbling over fourth place.
The flashpoint came in the braking zone to Turn 1 as Kostecki defended against Allen, with ensuing contact spinning the #17 Shell Mustang into the sand where it would remain until being retrieved under Safety Car conditions.
Allen was cleared by Race Control of wrongdoing, allowing him to press on, while Kostecki finished last.
“I mean Brodie was blocking for quite some while and Kai had overlap, so at some point when the car is up the inside and you keep closing the door in the middle of the braking zone, that’s what happens,” said Penrite Racing CEO Brenton Grove.
“Maybe a lesson for the future.”
Polesitter Matt Payne, who was beaten off the line by Cam Waters, survived the restart to take victory.

Ryan Wood was second ahead of Anton De Pasquale, with Waters recovering from a slow pitstop to finish fourth.
Another 50-lap Supercars race is to come later today, scheduled for 4:20pm local/6:20pm AEST.
