Australia will play for netball bronze after a shock semifinal defeat to Jamaica, after Sophie Dwyer missed the final shot of the game.
Australian race walk gold medallist Jemima Montag makes no apologies for a “selfish” race plan, sitting behind teammate Elizabeth McMillen for most of the 10,000m race before burning past her late to lead a green and gold podium sweep.

Track cycling: An all-Aussie semifinal in the men’s sprint
Tayte Ryan of Australia vs Leigh Hoffman of Australia. A best of three semifinal in the men’s sprint.
Winner will race for gold, loser has to fight for bronze.
Hoffman is the favourite, and he shows why. He powers past the younger Ryan for a comfortable first-up win.

Bowls: Australia facing off against host nation
Australia has started it’s latest match on the SEC Hall bowling green, where we’re competing against hosts Scotland in the para women’s pairs B6-B8.
Louise Hoskins and Serena Bonnell are flying the green and gold flag tonight, and we’re currently ahead on 2-0!
Australia has its work cut out in lawn bowls, with Scotland sitting on top of the all-time Commonwealth Games para bowls medal table (coming into the Glasgow event with four golds and one silver to their name).
But I reckon we can get a win here, c’mon Aussies!

Track cycling: Bronze up for grabs for tandem sprinters
Kane Perris and Luke Zaccaria make a hot start in the first heat and lead it all the way. A comfortable point on the board for the Australians.
It’s a best of three bronze final, so Perris and Zaccaria are one race win away from the medal.

Track cycling: Back to the velodrome with medals to give out
After a brief break, we’re back at the velodrome for some more cycling. And there are medals to be won for the Aussies in the next couple of hours.
The men’s tandem sprint finals are up, and the Aussie pair of Kane Perris and Luke Zaccaria will race for the bronze against Malaysia’s Mohd Khairul Hazwan Wahab and Muhammad Nabil Wafiq Zamri.
Then we’ll have the men’s sprint semifinals, in which Australians Tayte Ryan will race Leigh Hoffman for a spot in the final.
After that is the women’s tandem B 1,000m time trial final. We’ve got Jessica Gallagher and Jacqueline Mengler-Mohr racing for gold in that one.
And if that’s not enough, you can also get a bit of women’s 25km points race final featuring Sophie Edwards, Alyssa Polites and Georgia Baker.
Heaps! Coming up right now.

Team Aussie?
It was an Aussie clean sweep at the women’s 10,000m walk earlier tonight.
But it wasn’t exaaactly all smiles and laughs at the end.

Plenty of love for our netball superstars!
Well done to the Diamonds for an incredible campaign, you’ve done us so proud. Lots of love to Sophie Dwyer who played so well coming in under pressure.
– Jess
Totally agree, Jess!
With fans back home and actual royalty watching the AUS-JAM game live, you can understand why the pressure got to our gals.
Falling short by just one point in Glasgow’s Hydro tonight, the Diamonds will be looking back on day nine with a sense of disappointment.
But we’re still rooting for you, Aussies (and know you’re more than capable of winning that bronze medal)!
Having already defeated England earlier this week, I’ve got total faith in our Diamonds.

Netball: Diamonds admit weak start to semifinal
Speaking to media after a heartbreaking semifinal in Glasgow, Kate Moloney says Jamacia played a great game today.
The Diamonds will compete for bronze tomorrow. (Getty Images)
Looking ahead to Australia’s bronze medal match against England tomorrow, Moloney says the latest result was disappointing “but we’ll go again”.
“The most important thing now is we do stick together,” she said of the Aussie team.
“We probably didn’t start as well as we would’ve liked [on day nine].”
And that left the green and gold playing catch-up tonight, let’s hope they can take the lessons learned here and bring home a bronze!
For the Sunshine Girls, tonight’s win is extra special: not only will they get a shot at the gold in Glasgow, but the latest victory falls on Jamaica Emancipation Day.

Netball: Australia misses final shot, chance at gold
NOOOOOO, Australia misses out on the gold medal match for the first time in Commonwealth Games history.
Absolutely devastating for the Aussies — I can’t even imagine the pressure that would’ve been on Sophie Dwyer’s shoulders as she took that final shot.
Gosh that was such an intense match, you can see how much the win means for Jamaica!

Netball: Diamonds running out of time in semifinal
DEAR READER, I AM WORRIED.
The Diamonds are trying to fight their way back, but Jamacia has just sunk another goal.
The Sunshine Girls are ahead by a few points once again, we’re on 42-46.
There’s just three minutes to go…

Netball: The stress is getting to our girls
I’m clearly not the only one worried tonight, we just saw a rare mistake from the Diamonds (and we can’t afford to be giving these passes away tonight!).
Australia will need to slow things down and try to calm their nerves, if we want to take the lead back from Jamacia.
There’s been a few substitutions already in this final quarter, with the Diamonds doing everything to make each moment count.
GS Cara Koenen has just made a sensational shot, sinking the goal as she was falling out of bounds.
We’re looking at a score of 41-43, in Jamacia’s favour.

Netball: Australia ahead for the first time tonight!
Holy cow, I’m so stressed watching this semifinal play out on The Hydro netball court.
Can Australia advance, for a chance at the gold?
It looks possible, although Jamacia isn’t giving up without a fight — Australia pulls ahead, scoring the first goal of the fourth quarter!
C’mon GA Kiera Austin, she’s scored a couple already.
The scores are all tied up again, 38-38!

Netball: Australia levels the scoreboard!
Australia being completely ripped off by the umpires in the Commonwealth Games netball?
– StuieD
There’s been a lot of whistle action during tonight’s AUS-JAM semifinal, but the Diamonds have still managed to even the scores.
There’s been almost 90 contact penalties called so far this game, 48 for Australia and 41 for Jamacia.
We’re going goal for goal here, at 35-35 by the third quarter’s end.
I’m nervous!

We’ve just had the medal ceremony for the women’s long jump T38.
Wales’ Olivia Breen took gold with a Commonwealth Games record.
🥈But 18-year-old Layla Sharp claimed second with an Australian record.
🥉And 15-year-old Ayla Kowalczyk won bronze with a PB.
Is that what teenagers are wearing these days??

Bowls: Australia wins in straight sets!
Oh me, oh my. I can’t believe my eyes. Did Damien Delgado and James Reynolds just win in TWO sets?
You bet they did.
They dispatched the Scots 6-1, 4-4 in the men’s para pairs.
They will most likely play England or Scotland again in the semifinals.
We’ll have to wait and see.
That semifinal will be at 4.15am AEST.

Netball: Both teams fight for the ball in close game
The Diamonds are playing their toughest game in Glasgow yet, with Jamaica continuing their lead on the netball court.
Loading
Just a few points have separated the teams, quite consistently, tonight and that hasn’t changed in the third quarter.
We’re pretty evenly split in terms of ball possession so far, with less than a minute’s difference in the time each team has held that netball.
Australia is still behind the Sunshine Girls, with the scoreboard sitting on 28-31.
