The Illawarra has served as a filming location for several Australian and international productions in recent years, including Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the BBC crime series Return to Paradise, the Paramount+ series One Night, starring Illawarra local Yael Stone, Russell Crowe MMA flick Beast, and the yet-to-be-released drama Place to Be, starring Taika Waititi, Pamela Anderson and Ellen Burstyn.
