Would you rather spend one day living like a pioneer 200 years ago or jump 200 years into the future?
That was this week’s Would You Rather? question on Country 107, and listeners had no shortage of opinions, with passionate arguments for both the past and the future. One lucky participant also scored free food from Wendy’s in Steinbach.
For many, the past was all about slowing down.
Listeners described a simpler way of life, fewer distractions and more time outdoors. Some said they’d happily trade smartphones for homemade ice cream, fresh air and living off the land. Others admitted they’d love just one day without screens, notifications or the constant hustle of modern life.
One listener even joked that knowing what happens over the next 200 years would make it easy to become rich after returning to the present.
But plenty of people couldn’t wait to see the future.
Some were curious about what life might look like for future generations, while others dreamed of flying cars and a Jetsons-style world. One listener pointed out that we’ve already learned about history, so why not experience something completely unknown?

Then there was Wanda, whose answer came down to one thing: indoor plumbing.
Wanda laughed that she was 11 years old before her family had indoor plumbing and has no desire to relive the days of running to an outhouse.
“I need indoor plumbing,” she said.
She explained that even when she goes on vacation today, she prefers a hotel over camping because she wants a flushing toilet close by.
Having to bundle up in boots and a jacket just to use the washroom in winter? That’s a hard pass.
“I am future,” Wanda declared with a laugh. “I want the toilet brought to me.”

This week’s winner was Sherrie, who chose the past because she wants to learn more about living off the land. Her entry earned her free food from Wendy’s in Steinbach.
