There’s an Indian dance group on stage now as part of the official handover from Glasgow 2026 to Amdavad 2030.
The city, known as Ahmedabad, will host the centenary Games, honouring 100 years of history since the 1930 British Empire Games hosted by Canada.
Amdavad 2030 is expected to host additional sports compared to the pared-back Glasgow program.
Field hockey and table tennis are set to return after being dropped from this year’s Games.
India last hosted the Commonwealth Games with Delhi 2010 and took full advantage, finishing second on the medal table – with 38 golds – behind only Australia.
