Tresor Attempto Racing was fined 2500 euros ($4100 AUD) for leaving the laptop on the car, which fell off during the warm-up lap.
Broadcast footage showed the laptop sitting on top of the rear wing before falling onto the track during the opening race of the weekend at Magny-Cours.
“A laptop computer belonging to the Competitor was left on top of Car 99 during the starting procedure,” stewards said in their report.
“As the car departed the grid for the formation lap, the laptop was dislodged and thrown into the air, creating a dangerous situation on the grid.
“This failure directly resulted in an unsafe situation, as the laptop was thrown into the air during the formation lap, posing a risk to the car, marshals, and other Competitors in the immediate vicinity of the grid.
“The Stewards note that no damage resulted from the incident on this occasion, which is treated as a mitigating factor.
“However, the seriousness of the potential consequences of an object being launched from a car during a live formation lap procedure – including the risk of striking another car, a marshal, or an official – is regarded as an aggravating factor warranting a fine as stated above.”

Tresor Attempto Racing drivers Alex Aka and Dylan Pereira took their Audi R8 LMS to finishes of 14th and 37th across the two races, while claiming fourth and seventh in the Gold Cup.
Jules Gounon and Dani Juncadella won the first race of the weekend for 2 Seas Motorsport in their Mercedes-AMG ahead of the Thomas Neubauer/Arthur Leclerc AF Corse Ferrari 296.
Lionspeed GP won the second race with Bastian Buus and Ricardo Feller in their Porsche 911 GT3 R.
Silver duo Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro were standouts for Team WRT in their BMW M4, finishing second.
