THE new-look AASA Race Series will run without televised coverage going forward.
The national motorsport platform formerly known as the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series will begin its new era next week at Queensland Raceway, August 14-16.
A rebranding occurred last week, following a mid-season transition of promoting responsibilities from Hi-Tec Oils Motorsport Pty Ltd to go back in-house at AASA.
It’s worth noting that AASA is currently being operated by the four-pronged consortium which has claimed ownership of the sanctioning body, while long-time custodian the Benalla Auto Club fights to be reinstated.
Enthusiast Motor Insurance has come onboard as major sponsor for the QR event dubbed ‘Fight in the Night’ but the platform’s television package has been ceased.
The Super Series broadcast had previously been produced by AVE and aired both on Kayo Sports and free-to-air via SBS.
Competitors have been notified that will be ditched in favour of a livestream “for the remainder of 2026 and beyond”.
The AASA has sold the change as moving with the times, but some stakeholders are known to be displeased with the sudden inability to fulfil obligations from a TV perspective (given the potential for it to affect full-season sponsorship arrangements).
It is not yet clear which company will be engaged to produce the livestream coverage.
Categories on the Fight in the Night bill include the Australian Endurance Championship, TA2 Muscle Car Series, IRC Racing Series, Australian Formula Ford Championship, Legend Cars Australia and Formula RX8.
Beyond QR, the AASA Race Series is scheduled to visit Winton Motor Raceway on September 25-27 and Calder on November 13-15.
