Brock Lesnar is hanging up the wrestling tights – for good.
Lesnar, 49, a seven-time WWE champion and three-time universal champion, last match was a loss to current star Oba Femi at this year’s SummerSlam.
“I’m here today to do this interview to let the world and everybody know that I am retired and I wanted to say a big thank you to everybody,” Lesnar said in an interview on the Pat McAfee Show. “Saturday was a very emotional day for me. It’s kind of weird because—When Oba Femi slammed me at WrestleMania, I was like, I can’t do this again. I was like, ‘I think I’m done.’ But the business and I still have fuel in the tank but Saturday for Brock Lesnar, that’s it. That’s it for me in the squared circle and for everything else, too.
“I just want to give a shout-out to everybody on this universe that has followed me since I was a little kid all the way until Saturday. I was just a farm kid from South Dakota with a big dream and a big heart and a big-ass chip on my shoulder and I’m just grateful. Grateful to be 49 years old and to have to be able to do what I did in this lifetime, I thank God and everybody that supported me.”
A former Division-1 NCAA wrestling champion at the University of Minnesota in 2000, Lesnar was courted by the WWE, where he won several heavyweight titles during his on and off tenure between 2000 and 2026.
Lesnar is primarily remembered by MMA fans for defending the UFC heavyweight belt against Frank Mir at UFC 100 and unified the belt against interim champ Shane Carwin at UFC 116. He rang up a 5-3-0 in the octagon.
