ARN’s Hot Tomato still dominates the state of play on the Gold Coast airwaves, but the local Triple M station is giving the market leaders a run for their money, in GfK Survey 2 for the Gold Coast.
92.5 Triple M Gold enjoyed its best overall share result since 2014.
It’s a mixed bag for Hot Tomato, whose overall share dropped 2.2 to 19.5.
It’s still comfortably ahead of Triple M Gold – which attracted an extra 19,000 listeners and lifted its share 1.7% to 15.6, with 90.9 Sea FM holding down third (+1.0% to 9.9)
Hot Tomato saw a significant share drop the 10 to 17 demo – down 16.2% to 27.8.

Hot Tomato’s Galey & Emily Jade (main photo) are still the clear leaders in Breakfast, despite dropping 2.6% to 18.8, with Triple M’s Leisel, Liam & Spida gaining ground on the ARN duo (+2.1% to 15.8) and ABC Gold Coast in third after a huge lift in Breakfast for Trevor Jackson (+5.1% to 11.7), ahead of 90.9 Sea FM’s networked Jess & Rohan Breakfast show, which is holding steady (+0.7 to 9.7).
Hot Tomato’s local Drive show Moyra & Big Trev posted a 20.8% share, attracting 122,000 listeners.
It was also a solid book for Olivia in Mornings, Christo in Afternoons and Big Kahuna in Evenings.
Hot Tomato Content Director Brendon ‘Whippy’ Dangar said “You can’t fake local. You can’t network local. And you definitely can’t beat local! Another fantastic result for the hard-working team of Gold Coasters who love connecting with our listeners every day.”
Mike Harvey, General Manager, Hot Tomato, said “We are extremely happy with this result, yet again it reaffirms our commitment and investment in maintaining live and local announcers at Hot Tomato. Our 100% Local, 100% Live, 100% Gold Coast strategy continues to deliver outstanding audience reach across the Gold Coast. Our valued clients can now be even more confident that Hot Tomato will continue to deliver stable long term mass audience reach. Congratulations to our programming team and all the passionate people at Hot Tomato who believe in this brand and what we do here every day.”

Blair Woodcock, Gold Coast General Manager & Content Director, said: “We’re thrilled to see some great results for both Triple M Gold and SeaFM on the Gold Coast. In particular, Triple M Gold achieved its best share result since 2014 with Leisel Jones, Liam and Spida climbing a massive 2.1 share points. Triple M Gold is now listened to longer than any other FM station on the Gold Coast.“
“It’s also been a terrific survey for Sea FM. The station ties with the key female 25-54 demographic in breakfast with a 21.8% share, while growing share overall in breakfast, drive and TSL. It’s a great platform for Jess & Rohan to continue building a new audience on the Gold Coast.“
“These results are a testament to the hard working teams who continue to consistently deliver engaging and relevant content for our audiences.”
