Cadillac F1 Team principal Graeme Lowdon reveals the outfit’s long-term Formula 1 vision, talent strategy, and cost cap approach as the American squad aims to become one of the sport’s elite teams.
The Cadillac F1 Team has got a promising start to their maiden campaign in the sport’s top tier, but team principal Graeme Lowdon says the American team are working on a long-term project with no desire to make an instant impact. Continuing to go through the necessary steps in F1 26 and making smart strategic personnel changes will give Cadillac the foundation to eventually rival some of the top racing superpowers in F1 in due time, Cadillac believes.
Cadillac focused on building a winning Formula 1 culture
Born as a whole-new constructor for the Cadillacs, the team hasn’t underperformed as it played its debut championship season. The American team is not in the back of the field but has been a regular trouble maker in midfield and it’s not been without competition against more proven rivals on a number of occasions. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez have been outstanding drivers who have helped speed the team up. All of their experience has helped keep Cadillac competitive; they made several close calls in Q2 and are performing so that the outfit is on the right track. The aim is not just about lap times, says Graeme Lowdon. The team principal also thinks that providing a place where good engineers and staff, want to develop their careers is essential as well. Cadillac is looking to feature employees that don’t want to leave because they are proud to work for the company, and that is becoming a destination team, said Lowdon. Attracting the best with a strong company culture is a natural outcome, and it will culminate in better on-track performance, he says according to the latest sports news.
Strategic recruitment signals Cadillac’s long-term ambitions
Cadillac’s sights are already set on becoming a greater brand. Former Red Bull chief engineer Paul Monaghan is one of the most prominent names the team have brought in and in doing so, is slated to strengthen aspects of the technical side of the team significantly. Graeme Lowdon feels he is seeing the project get credibility in the Formula 1 Formula 1 paddock as he fetches the experienced ball at F1 teams that have the success to recommend him. While stepping onto a new team is a difficult challenge, he said, many people are driven to help meet the challenge of constructing something from the ground up. Instead of just numbers, Cadillac will be focusing on a team-based culture, aggressive leadership and sustainability. Lowdon says this is important if the Cadillac F1 Team is going to crack into the top-tier teams of Formula 1 in the upcoming seasons.
