The Wallabies and Japan are both part of the Nations Championship, a 12-nation competition in its inaugural year.
The competition is split between six nations from the Northern Hemisphere and the Southern Hemisphere.
Each nation plays every member of the other conference, and the top team in the North and South play off in the final.
Australia and Japan are in the Southern Hemisphere conference (I know, I know. Japan is in the Northern Hemisphere. Please let it go).
Australia and Japan also had identical opponents during the three rounds in July, facing Ireland, France and Italy.
Australia
The Wallabies led at half-time in all three Test matches in July, but managed only one win.
The Wallabies missed a kick after the siren to lose 31-33 to Ireland, and were blown off the park by France in the second half to lose 26-42.
But the Wallabies were excellent against Italy in Perth, claiming a 57-10 win.
Japan
The Brave Blossoms started the Nations Championship on a high at home, defeating Italy 27-10.
They then travelled to Newcastle for a home match against Ireland (I know, I know. Newcastle is not in Japan. Please let it go). Japan were beaten 20-36, before returning to their home country for a 15-42 loss to France.
