GROVE Racing’s newest international guru is set to join the team in time for its bid for back-to-back Repco Bathurst 1000 victories.
Renowned for his work with Porsche, especially in the Formula E sector, Alexander Lieschke signed with Grove Racing to become its head of simulation and performance engineering.

Lieschke was initially announced for a start date sometime in October; the Penrite Ford squad’s CEO Brenton Grove has now clarified he should be on deck for Bathurst.
“He’s still working through visas and all the required logistics, but I think he’ll be in the country before The Bend,” said Grove.
“But that’s subject to change, he is obviously moving his whole life from Germany.
“So I think it’s around The Bend, plus or minus a couple of weeks depending on how his relocation goes.”
The Bend 500 will open the Ryco Enduro Cup on September 11-13. Then it’s onto the Great Race (October 8-11), won last year by Matt Payne and Garth Tander.
The Groves already have Italian ex-Ferrari Formula 1 engineer Riccardo Corte in its ranks, operating directly on Kai Allen’s #26 Mustang.
Fittingly, former Grove technical director Grant McPherson will also begin in his new role ahead of the Great Race. ‘Shippy’ is due to start with General Motors towards the end of this month.
