A PAIR of Perth podiums is undoubtedly the most impressive element of Team 18’s ongoing Supercars silverware streak.
Team 18 has now recorded at least one podium at four successive rounds, an active streak that can only be bettered by Grove Racing (five in a row).
David Reynolds put Team 18 on the rostrum at Symmons Plains before Anton De Pasquale won in Darwin, collected a second-place belt buckle trophy from Townsville, and nabbed a couple of thirds in Wanneroo.
While Charlie Schwerkolt’s squad had previous runs on the board at each of Tassie, Darwin and Townsville, the same cannot be said about Perth.
Never before had a Team 18 car started or finished a Perth race better than fifth. Just last year, Reynolds and De Pasquale had wound up 10th and 17th on round points there.
“It’s really rewarding to return to a track where we struggled last year and leave with two podiums,” said De Pasquale.
Team principal Adrian Burgess was cautious as ever in addressing the run of form.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do still,” he said.
“We know where want to get to and we know how hard it is to get there.
“These things don’t happen overnight, but it’s encouraging for the team to do four on the bounce.
“But these guys (Grove Racing and Triple Eight) will be looking at that and they do it every day of the week.”
Team 18 has jumped Dick Johnson Racing to be sat fifth in the pitlane order for next week’s Ipswich Super440.
