Hollywood actress and star of Netflix’s Wednesday Jenna Ortega has gone viral after worrying pictures emerged from a new interview.

The Scream star appeared in a video interview for Esquire this week, but all eyes were on the star’s gaunt appearance.

Fans compared the 23-year-old to Ariana Grande, 33, who has recently been under intense scrutiny for her thin appearance. Fans have voiced their concern that the pop star isn’t getting the help she may need.

During the sit down chat, Ortega reflected on her career as an actress.

At one moment she described how she would sometimes end up going “all day” without eating or drinking on set as a child star.

Fans expressed their concern in the comment section.

“Hollywood needs to be studied because these people look unwell. How can one not enjoy food??” wrote one.

“Whatever’s going on in the Hollywood club, be thankful you aren’t involved,” said a second.

A third commented: “What is with all of these celebrities wanting to look so frail and thin? It’s so concerning.”

A fouth said: “This is not something children need to be aspiring to!” while another suggested that the pics shared similarity to recent ones of pop star Ariana Grande.

Ortega has visibly transformed herself in the last two years, looking very different now from when she walked the red carpet back in August 2024 at the Venice Film Festival.

Concerns have been levelled at her for the past few months, with pictures of her at an event for Wednesday in May first sparking concern.

Fellow star Ariana Grande has been the focus of similar concerns from fans across social media in recent weeks.

The music video for her new song Petal, which was released on July 31, shocked many who watched it because always petite Grande appears thinner than ever in the clip, her bones clearly visible beneath her skin.

Earlier this month the pop star announced that she would be taking some time out of the spotlight.

“Ariana will be taking a step back from visibility after she completes the Eternal Sunshine Tour,” a statement said

“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny.”

But that statement was criticised by some, upset that their concerns for the pop star’s wellbeing, sparked by a music video she had released, were being characterised as “endless scrutiny.”

It was also revealed at the time that she was pulling out of her starring role in the West End revival of Sunday in the Park with George.

One source close to the Oscar nominee told the Daily Mail, it was something her inner circle had been asking her to do for some time.

“We’ve begged her, like a lot. A lot a lot,” the family insider told the publication.

“Not like a day or two, but a break break. She is not well. She is anxious and unhappy. She doesn’t sleep enough, doesn’t eat enough.”

The source added that they are all “very concerned” about Grande.
