CAA Football Countdown To Kickoff – Elon
Our CAA Football Countdown To Kickoff continues with a look at the Elon Phoenix. Elon closed the 2024 season on a four-game winning streak to finish 6-6 overall and secure its fourth straight winning record in CAA play at 5-3.Â
While Elon will have a new quarterback with redshirt freshman Landen Clark and transfer Marco Lainez battling for the starting job, wide receiver Jamarien Dalton (31 rec, 408 yds, 2 TD’s) and tight end Dylan Magazu are back. At running back, TJ Thomas returns after tallying 588 yards and five touchdowns in his rookie season before an injury cut his season short after eight games.
The Phoenix has some holes to fill defensively, but has experience up front. Kahmari Brown had a strong freshman year with 33 tackles, 9.0 TFL’s and 4.5 sacks. The middle of the line includes fifth year players Jake Louro and Parris Lowery.
On special teams, Elon features All-America punter Jeff Yurk, who led FCS last season with a 47.9 yard average.
