The established batter Mushfiqur Rahim is the man out. It was a weird one — it looked as if he went to play it, and as the ball pitched he tried to back out of it, but it was too late. The ball leapt off the pitch, took the edge up towards the shoulder and flew to Smith.
Smith’s reaction suggested it nearly did him in too – he leapt through the air and took a half-diving catch, and then gestured afterwards that it was wobbling through the air.
At the fall of that wicket, the Aussies had taken 3-11 from the previous 24 deliveries.
The Tigers batters are playing with doughnuts at the moment – all edge. A majority of the runs since the new ball have been scored from edges that have gone past the cordon.
Two new batters at the crease now and the Aussies can sense an opportunity now to quickly wrap this innings up.
