BAILLEY Collins says it was a dream come true to make her league debut for Rangers and bag a brace in the process.
On her first SPWPL start for the club following her summer switch from Motherwell, the number three produced a fantastic finish following a short corner before putting her side back in front in the second half to see the Gers claim an opening day success away to Montrose.
Speaking to RangersTV after the 4-1 win on the road, she commented: “I don’t think I have the words really; it is kind of a dream debut come true.
“I have been working so hard to get the position for so long.
“We have been working on set pieces; it is something that we have identified as a good threat for us.
“A few on the training ground and it has come off today, so that is always nice when you are working on things, and you have got the product to show for it as well.”
The right-sided player reflected on the afternoon as a whole and said strength and depth shone through in helping the Light Blues get over the line.
She continued: “When you come to a place like Montrose, they are a physical team; they always make it hard for you.
“For us to be able to take the three points in the first game of the season, get a good amount of goals on the board is what we came to do, and we have done it.
“The players who came off the bench today made a real impact in the game.
“When players are starting to tire, and you are needing those fresh legs and energy, I think the players who have come off the bench today really provided that and helped us get over the line.”
Collins has been enjoying her time in Glasgow so far, as she expressed her excitement to get back on home soil against Spartans at Broadwood next weekend.
She added: “I have loved it; I have loved every minute.
“The staff, the players, the environment, everything is unbelievable, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
“Playing in our home, it’s really positive, and hopefully we can take the positives from this performance today into next week.
“Work on the things that we can do a lot better and make the perfect performance for our first home game.”
