Australia Post has opened a purpose-built delivery centre in Murray Bridge as part of a broader investment in its regional South Australian network.

The 1,143 sqm facility replaces Australia Post’s former delivery site and can process up to 2,600 parcels each day. It is the second of four new facilities planned for regional South Australia, with additional delivery centres to open in Kadina, Tanunda and Port Pirie.

Designed to accommodate growing parcel volumes, the Murray Bridge centre is expected to improve processing efficiency, transport flows and workplace safety.

The fully electric facility is powered by rooftop solar panels and battery energy storage, supporting Australia Post’s efforts to build a more sustainable and resilient delivery network.

Australia Post Executive General Manager, Network Operations, Shane Plant, says the investment will help the organisation meet rising demand and maintain reliable delivery services across regional communities.

“Online spend in South Australia rose 14 per cent to $5.6 billion last year, according to our latest Annual eCommerce Report,” Shane says.

“As more people shop online, particularly in regional areas, we’re continuing to invest in our regional network to keep pace with demand and changing customer needs, to deliver a better, more reliable service for our customers into the future.”

Shane says the new facility will increase processing capacity and help parcels move through the network more efficiently.

“Designed to improve safety for our team members, increase capacity and streamline operations, including transport flows, the new facility will help our team get parcels on the road faster and deliver them to our customers as efficiently as possible,” he says.

“It will also strengthen our ability to support local businesses, helping them reach more customers and grow through eCommerce.”

The regional upgrades form part of Australia Post’s wider investment in South Australia, which includes the $500 million Adelaide Parcel Super Hub. The 83,000 sqm facility is currently under development and is expected to begin operating in 2028.

Postal services will continue to be available from the Murray Bridge Post Office and Murray Bridge South Licensed Post Office, while secure Parcel Lockers are available at the Murray Bridge Post Office.
