An NFL star is mourning the death of his young son as the new season approaches. The Buffalo Bills confirmed Saturday that the 2-year-old child of defensive tackle Ed Oliver has died, reports NBC News. The team didn’t disclose the cause of death, but multiple reports say the boy was found unresponsive in a swimming pool at a home near Houston, per People. A medical examiner’s report out of Montgomery County in Texas lists accidental drowning as the cause of death, according to the Athletic.
“I’m a parent, right? And like, ever since I found out the news, it’s hard to, I mean, it was really hard,” said Bills head coach Joe Brady after Buffalo’s preseason win over Cleveland on Saturday. “I can’t fathom what he’s going through.” The boy died in late June, and Bills players including QB Josh Allen are angry that news leaked via podcaster Tony Farmer and others before Oliver could tell the public himself. “It makes me very sad and angry at the same time,” Allen told reporters. Oliver did not play in the Cleveland game.
