On what would have been his 48th birthday, the sports world honored late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant on Sunday.
Several sports-related accounts and fans took to X on Sunday to celebrate the life and legacy of Bryant through a series of posts:
Bryant died in January 2020 at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash that also took the life of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
Nicknamed The Black Mamba, Kobe established himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history during his 20-year run with the Lakers.
Bryant was an 18-time All-Star, 15-time All-NBA selection, five-time NBA champion, four-time All-Star Game MVP, two-time scoring champion, two-time NBA Finals MVP and one-time NBA MVP.
He is also fourth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list with 33,643 points, placing him behind only LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Karl Malone.
Kobe even transcended the world of sports in 2018 when he won an Oscar for best animated short film with Dear Basketball.
