A low-key end to an opening day which was stuffed with action in this top vs bottom encounter.
Brydon Carse claimed two wickets as Glos stuttered to 13-3 after being put in, and Matty Potts claimed two more before Kasey Aldridge cut loose with 5-16 in five overs as the visitors were skittled for 137, 60 of which came from the defiant James Bracey.
The hosts were 16-2 in reply but a stand of 84 between David Bedingham and Will Rhodes (22) proved a valuable foundation before the latter departed shortly before the light failed and the covers came on. JT Langridge collected his first two First Class wickets on debut after joining on loan from Somerset.
Bedingham will resume on 59* – with 11 fours – with Ben Stokes at the other end tomorrow, weather permitting.
