Emmerdale star Nicola Wheeler has revealed that she has one wish for her character, Nicola King, following the devastating death of Jimmy. The beloved character died on Thursday (27 August), after he crashed his vehicle.
As part of Jimmy’s final moments, he imagined that he was renewing his vows with Nicola, with the pair having been married since 2010. The incident occurred during Dawn and Joe’s wedding, though the reason for Jimmy’s crash hasn’t been revealed.

Following the dramatic storyline, Wheeler and co-star Nick Miles – who played Jimmy for 22 years in total – reunited to discuss the events, with the video being shared on the soap’s social media channels.
“Everybody I know who read that script, the first thing they said about that script was that it made them cry,” shared Miles, while Wheeler made a playful suggestion regarding Nicola’s future following Jimmy’s death.
“Because our characters have been together for such a long time, and you watch all these really good-looking actors come into the show and then they leave. So, I’ve suggested upstairs ‘let’s not put anyone with Nicola for a while’,” she said.
“Let’s let her go round the village and spread her love a little bit. So, will you still be my friend if I go and sleep with the entire village?” she jokingly asked, with Miles bluntly saying “no” in reply.
While Nicola and the Kings will be in grief, Miles actually revealed that Jimmy was nearly killed off before, with producers almost making the decision just a couple years into the actor’s tenure on the ITV soap.

“It was the time of the collapse of the Kings’ house. The writers decided it would be better if Jimmy was killed,” he said. “I didn’t find this out until about three years later, but the producer told me that she had to jump up and down, kicking and screaming.”
He also paid tribute to Wheeler, noting: “We both broke down. It’s the end of a long relationship that we made together. I sent her a letter telling her that I’ve been so lucky to have the best onscreen partner. But we will always be mates.”
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
