The mum spent 20 years in jail before her convictions were overturned in 2023, after new scientific evidence was found in a landmark 2018 inquiry.

Folbigg and Muir have known each other more than 40 years, having first become friends in their school days in Newcastle.

“This is the most amazing day of my new life – to be married to a man long-lost but now found,” Folbigg said in a statement confirming the nuptials.

“Our friendship has spanned on/off for decades. To reconnect with Rob, and to find love, respect and understanding with him again after 45 years is incredible.

“And yet, somehow, it feels completely natural – as though it was always meant to be.”

The couple were married in an intimate ceremony surrounded by close friends, family and members of Folbigg’s legal team.

Also in attendance were members of Team Folbigg, the informal group of scientists, legal experts, philanthropists and close friends who helped overturn the wrongful conviction.

“To be able to celebrate this new chapter of my life with my family, and all the adopted family I’ve gathered along the way, means the absolute world to me,” the bride added.

“It really is the ultimate.”

In an official photo released by the newlyweds, Folbigg is seen wearing a beaded strapless gown, while Muir is wearing a traditional tuxedo for the occasion, which is understood to have taken place at Fort Scratchley Function Centre.

Kathleen’s ex-husband and father of her four children, Craig Folbigg, died of a heart attack in 2024, a year after Kathleen was acquitted on all charges over the deaths of her four infant children between 1989 and 1999.
